FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Below are questions potential clients have asked in the past, and general information that may be helpful in making a decision to use my services.

Do you accept insurance?

No.  My practice is private pay.  However, I can provide you with an industry standard CMS form that you may submit to your insurance company for reimbursement.  If you plan to do this, it is important that you contact your insurance company before your first appointment, to insure that you have mental health benefits.

What are your rates?

My rate is $110 per 60 minute session.

Is there a fee for missing an appointment?

There is no fee for appointments rescheduled or cancelled 24 hours prior to the appointment time.  When 24 hour notice is not given, the full price of the cancelled/rescheduled session is due at your next appointment.  Note: Emergencies  happen.  There is an allowance of one cancelled/rescheduled appointment without 24 hrs notice.

What forms of payment do you accept?

I accept cash, check, credit, debit, and HSA/Flex spending cards.

Do you bill for sessions?

No, I do not bill for sessions.  Fees are due at the close of each session.  If payment cannot be made the day of the appointment, please inform me ahead of time, and I will be happy to reschedule with you for a later date.

Do you prescribe medications?

No.  I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC). I am not a Psychiatrist or Medical Doctor.  If you are in need of a medication evaluation, I am happy to refer you to a psychiatrist.

What therapeutic approach do you use?

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy is the primary approach that I use.  However, I am familiar and trained in several different approaches. This allows me to use interventions that I believe will most benefit my clients.

Where is your office located?

My home office is located near Avila University in South Kansas City.  I have a charming office space set aside exclusively for my clients.

How long will the counseling process take?

The length of counseling is different for everyone.  It depends on the commitment and work you put into each session, as well as the effort put into assignments given by your therapist.  Establish and review goals with your therapist.  This is a good way to measure your progress in counseling
